Veganism

Terra Farm Sanctuary values compassion and peace, and endeavors to create a community based on the ideals of veganism as a justice movement, with the abstention from exploitation, objectification, and violence toward all beings. We believe that providing a haven for those who have experienced trauma and pain, in an environment void of animal products is powerful and healing. The foundation of veganism is simple, although it is misunderstood by many. The accepted definition of veganism reads:

“A philosophy and way of living that seeks to exclude—as far as is possible and practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.”

Veganism is not a diet, however plant-based eating is a cornerstone to our vegan experiences; vegans are herbivores, as are the individuals, who call Terra home, and we often find ourselves sharing snacks! We choose not accept the prospect of happy meat, free-range eggs, or organic cow milk, and there is no such thing as humane slaughter. Vegans do not exploit other beings in any way, for any purpose, including for their flesh, skin, feathers, hair, or secretions. Nor do we subject them to laborious activities, or require them to perform for our entertainment. We insist on animal free alternatives and choose the path of least harm in our daily routines.
